Our
Curriculum
The curriculum of FCS has been carefully chosen to provide academic excellence and the integration of Biblical principles. Our curriculum is selected by the teaching staff and administration in consultation with the school's Education Committee (composed mainly of parents). Curriculum revision is an on-going process as we seek to provide the best instructional materials for our students. Learning in the classroom is facilitated using a variety of teaching methods including direct instruction, co-operative group activity, and hands-on investigation.
Bible is a core subject in all grades and all subjects are taught through the lens of Scripture. Language Arts includes phonics, basal readers, novel studies, spelling, grammar and creative writing. Keyboarding instruction is provided for Grades 5 – 8. Mathematics is a practical, balanced program of manipulative exploration, computational drill and problem solving. Core French instruction is provided for Grades 1 – 8. We offer sequential physical education and music programs for all grades. We have science for all grades and either Environmental Studies (Gr. 1 - 4), Social Studies (Gr. 5 & 6), or History and Geography (Gr. 7 & 8) round out the curriculum.
Our
"Resource" Program
At FCS we seek to meet the educational needs of all our students. This includes those who require extra help in the classroom. We operate a resource program under the supervision of our special education teacher for those students that need individual help.
Our
"Discovery" Program
Our unique program called Discovery provides intensive one-on-one educational therapy for students who have specific learning difficulties, identified through comprehensive testing. Further information and cost on this program can be obtained through our administration.
